About

This page is for those of you who don’t know me.  My name is Fintan Murphy I am 26 years old and live in Dublin.

I am a born Entreprenuer and by the time I was a teenager I had already had several attempts at enterprising endevours.  I started my first business when I 12 years old printing cards on my parents home PC (Windows 98, Pentium 1).
Since then I have always had a love for business and technology.  I setup am IT compnay when I was 19 years old while still attending UCD.  As the business grew so did its needs and I soon left UCD to become a full time Entreprenuer.
Since then I have beome a self proclaimed Technology Guru, taking on everything from PCs, Macs, iPhones, PDA’s, etc.  If its the latest must have I probably had it already

I am never without my iPhone!  I think it is one of the technological breakthroughs of our century, people will look back on it like the invention of electricity!  Ok maybe not electricity but something BIG.   My real love for technology comes from the internet and all that it can bring to us.  Ever since I was a kid I could see the potential of the internet.  I want to make skype calls before skype even exsisted.  I remember pestering my parents for years to buy a 28kbps modem so we could have internet!  This love of all things techie brought about my own business in 2003 with the inception of Damson IT (now Damson Technologies).  Setup in partership with my brother Donal, Damson grew out of a need for small business’s to have someone they could trust doing their IT.  Damson is now over 5 years old and it is almost unrecognisable to the company that began being run from our parents house

We now have 100′s of clients spanning the entire globe, from Dublin to Manchester to the sunny shores of Florida.  Our business has organically grown from the direct needs of ourselves and our clients.  We now use cloud computing to run our entire company and we promote this Software-as-a-service model with our clients.  We have setup Google Apps in many business’s and have shown them the cost benefits of using WEB 2.0 applications to run their email, calendar, documents and invoicing systems.

In the words of Carly Fiorina, ex-CEO of Hewitt-Packard,

“the past 25 years in technology has been a ‘warm-up’ act. What we’re entering is the main event, and by ‘main event’ I mean an era in which technology will truly transform every aspect of business, of government, of society, of life.”

Damson now specialise in the Cloud Computing arena, we frequently do talks and seminars on what cloud computing can do for your business and the future of technology

I currently live in Clondalkin in Dublin with my wonderful girlfriend Lesley and we a have just had our first kid, Ruairi Conor.    This has been a life changing experience and as this seems to be a theme for me at the moment I decided to start this blog.

We also have two dogs Cooper and Mojo and walk them as often as possible in Irelands harsh environment.
When I am not working I enjoy many adventure sports including Kayaking and off roading.  This year I am hoping to start rock climbing, for two reasons

1. I think I will be amazing at it

2. I have a fear of heights

I will keep you all posted on this personal Goal as the year progress’s
